Joinery Timber

At Bennetts Timber we stock good quantities of sawn joinery softwoods, principally redwood imported from Scandanavia and Russia. These high quality slow grown timbers are ideal for planing and machining for which they have a number of end uses.

We ensure that our sawn joinery is sourced from sustainable forests and also from mills that have a long standing reputation for quality. This means that the material is consistently graded in order to maintain its quality. There are various grades of sawn joinery that we stock and these are detailed below along with some of the stock sizes that we have available. Contact our sales team to discuss your sawn joinery needs.

Unsorted Joinery (Premium Grade) - This is the best quality joinery timber where the lower grades have been removed, or sorted. Unsorted joinery is mainly used where the visible finish is important, such as doors, windows or stairs. Unsorted is also used for skirtings, architraves and other internal mouldings when a high quality finish is required. Unsorted joinery has a low knot content, straight grain and a smooth finish.

Scandanavian 5th Grade/Russian 4th Grade (Standard Grade) - This is more of a multiprurpose grade which has a large variety of uses typically for flooring, skirting and architrave. Most PSE and mouldings are machined from 5th grade.

Other grades, such as Saw falling and 6th Grade, are available on request. The lower grades tend to have larger knots and some defects.
