Loglap cladding is becoming a very popular material for the exterior of garden rooms, home offices cabins and garden sheds, it gives a strong rustic feel, yet retains the attractiveness that a square board gives. Loglap cladding is available in standard softwood however, we specialise in being able to process it from the following popular exterior cladding species:-
• Western red cedar
• Siberian larch
• Thermowood D ®
Benefits of Using these Species
These are extremely durable species and will last much longer without treatment than standard Scandinavian or Russian softwood, even with treatment.
Loglap cladding has a curved profile to the front of the timber, giving it the ‘log’ effect, and is flat on the back, made from one of the above species, Loglap cladding is available in different lengths and widths, but the most common profiles requested are:-
• 25mm x 150mm, which gives an overall finish of 20mm x 145mm and a face cover of 129mm).
• 25mm x 125mm, which gives an overall finish of 20mm x 120mm and a face cover of 109mm).
Ideal for the cladding of log cabins, garden rooms, summerhouses and garden sheds, Loglap cladding is a great alternative to traditional straight edged cladding. Finished to a tongue and groove profile the boards fit snuggly into each other.
Preserving Loglap Cladding
Natural timber changes colour over time, for example, cedar will fade from its natural reddy brown to silver grey over a few years, depending on its exposure to the sun. At Bennetts Timber, we are able to pre-treat cladding at our factory with UV protectors which will prolong the ageing process.
Painting your Loglap Cladding
You may also want a painted finish. Again, with our recent investment in a new vacuum coater we can paint to colour matches provided by the customer using a Teknos or similar 3 coat system, the results are stunning and much easier than trying to paint in-situ. See our loglap page for further details on the range of colours available.
